ESG standards are central to sustainable agroforestry, yet enforcing compliance across fragmented value chains remains challenging. Since smallholder production is largely informal and overlooked, assessing performance is difficult. This paper investigates West African cocoa and coffee farmers’ ESG practices to establish a baseline and identify strategies for long-term sustainability.
